After the wonderful success of "The Good Father" it was always going to be a challenging year in 2012 - and so it proved. Conor McPherson's "The Weir" hadn't appeared
on the circuit for a couple of years so it seemed to be a reasonably safe bet for a good run. The best laid plans............! We had just acquired the rights when we realised that there were going to be not two - but three "Weirs" on the road at the same
time. Undaunted, George and his merry men (and woman) carried on into the unknown! Three successive second placings were good results but obviously at least a win (or possibly) two would be required to ensure a trip to Shercock for the All Ireland Finals.
A good win in Claregalway was followed by a wonderful night in Cavan when DADS swept the boards. Once again we had qualified for the Finals and this qualification was made all the sweeter by reason of the finals being held in Shercock - a venue where DADS
has always received a warm and enthusiastic welcome.
Unfortunately even though all the cast and crew felt our performance in Shercock
was one of our best, we failed to bring home any prizes. However it was once again a wonderful experience to compete at the very top and no doubt we will be back again before too long. The accompanying photograph shows the cast in action - P. Lee, M. Silke,
D. O'Keeffe, J. Walkin and P. Waters
